Frequently Asked Questions

No. Many members begin by reaching out through the website. If Staffing CEOs appears to be a good fit, we'll help guide you through the referral process.

Owners, CEOs, Presidents, COOs, and senior leaders of independently owned staffing firms committed to continuous improvement.

No. The first conversation is simply an opportunity to learn more about each other and answer questions.

That's perfectly fine. Many prospective members spend time getting to know the organization before deciding whether membership is right for them.

Staffing CEOs is intentionally designed to provide meaningful value without becoming another obligation on your calendar.

Members typically participate in two in-person leadership meetings each year, along with occasional virtual discussions and informal conversations between meetings. While active participation is encouraged, the greatest value comes from members who engage openly, share their experiences, and invest in the success of one another.

Many members find that the time invested pays dividends throughout the year through better decisions, stronger leadership, and trusted relationships.

While the two annual meetings are the foundation of Staffing CEOs, the conversations rarely stop there.

Members frequently connect between meetings to seek advice, share ideas, celebrate successes, and work through challenges. Some conversations happen through scheduled virtual meetings, while others are simply phone calls, emails, or text messages between trusted peers.

One of the greatest benefits of membership is knowing you always have experienced staffing leaders just a phone call away.

Yes. Staffing CEOs was intentionally designed to support leadership development at multiple levels within an organization.

Owners, CEOs, presidents, and senior executives participate in Staffing CEOs, while operational leaders and emerging executives may participate in the Key Staff Group. Together, both groups help organizations strengthen strategic leadership, operational excellence, and succession planning.

Many member companies consider participation in both groups one of the organization's greatest advantages.

Each meeting combines structured content with meaningful peer discussion.

Members participate in business check-ins, financial benchmarking, leadership roundtables, member presentations, guest speakers, strategic discussions, and collaborative problem-solving sessions. Time is also intentionally set aside for networking, social activities, and informal conversations that often become some of the most valuable moments of the meeting.

Every meeting is designed around one objective: helping members return home with ideas they can implement immediately.

Confidentiality is one of the core principles of Staffing CEOs.

Members openly discuss financial performance, leadership challenges, compensation strategies, succession planning, acquisitions, operational successes, and lessons learned because they trust those conversations remain within the group.

That trust creates an environment where members can seek honest feedback, ask difficult questions, and openly share both successes and failures without concern that information will leave the room.

Simply put... What happens inside Staffing CEOs stays inside Staffing CEOs.

Yes. Spouses and guests are welcomed during designated dinners, social events, excursions, and other scheduled activities throughout each meeting.

Including guests helps strengthen the relationships that make Staffing CEOs unique. Many lifelong friendships have developed alongside the professional relationships built through the organization.

Business sessions, however, remain exclusive to members to preserve the confidential nature of discussions.

Membership fees are intentionally structured to support the ongoing operation of the organization, meeting planning, educational programming, and member resources.

Because membership is by referral and begins with an introductory conversation, we'll be happy to discuss current dues, meeting costs, and participation expectations during that process.

Our focus is ensuring prospective members fully understand the value of the organization before making a commitment.

Our members represent a broad cross-section of the staffing industry while sharing one important characteristic: they are independently owned staffing firms committed to continuous improvement.

Member firms specialize in areas such as:

  • Industrial Staffing
  • Professional Staffing
  • Healthcare Staffing
  • Clerical & Administrative
  • Engineering & Technical
  • Executive Search
  • Specialty Staffing
  • Technology Staffing
  • Temporary Staffing
  • Contract
  • Direct Hire
  • Payroll & Employer Services
  • Workforce Solutions

To encourage open collaboration, membership is intentionally structured to minimize direct competition between member firms whenever possible.

Why Staffing CEOs Instead of Another Staffing Association?

Staffing CEOs complements industry associations… it doesn't replace them.

Associations provide advocacy, education, certification, and industry resources. Staffing CEOs provides something different: a confidential peer advisory experience where independent staffing leaders openly share ideas, challenge one another's thinking, and work through real business issues together.

Many members actively participate in both, because each serves a different purpose. Associations help you stay informed about the industry. Staffing CEOs helps you become a stronger leader within it.

Member Stories

For years, the owner of an independent staffing firm had been preparing for the day when someone else would lead the company.

The likely successor was already inside the organization.

As COO, he understood the business, had earned the trust of the team, and played an important role in daily operations. But moving from operational leadership to the president’s role would require more than a new title. He needed broader exposure to strategy, financial decision-making, leadership accountability, and ownership-level thinking.

Through Staffing CEOs, the owner gained perspective from peers who had already navigated leadership transitions. Those conversations helped clarify which responsibilities needed to be transferred, where additional development was necessary, and how to introduce the next-generation leader to increasingly complex decisions.

At the same time, the COO participated in the Key Staff Group, where he could learn from other operational leaders, test his thinking, and build confidence outside the walls of his own company.

The transition happened gradually. He began leading strategic initiatives, participating more deeply in financial planning, and taking responsibility for decisions that previously rested solely with the owner.

By the time he became president, the change felt less like a handoff and more like the natural next step.

The owner gained confidence that the company was prepared for the future. The new president stepped into the role with stronger judgment, a trusted peer network, and a clearer understanding of what it meant to lead the entire organization.

Lesson Learned: Succession planning is not a single event. It is a deliberate process of transferring knowledge, authority, confidence, and trust.

An independent staffing firm was presented with an acquisition opportunity that appeared promising.

The target company offered access to a new market, an established client base, and the potential for meaningful growth. On paper, the opportunity looked attractive.

But the decision was far from simple.

The owner had concerns about client concentration, leadership compatibility, employee retention, technology integration, and whether the acquisition would distract the company from its existing priorities.

Rather than evaluate the opportunity alone, the owner brought the situation to a confidential Staffing CEOs discussion.

Several members had completed acquisitions. Others had walked away from deals that initially looked compelling. Together, they asked questions that went beyond the financial statements.

  1. How dependent was the company on its current owner?
  2. Would key employees remain after the transaction?
  3. Were the cultures compatible?
  4. How much management attention would integration require?
  5. What assumptions were being made about future revenue?
  6. What would need to go right for the deal to succeed?

The conversation did not produce a simple yes or no. It gave the owner something more valuable: a clearer view of the risks, opportunities, and unanswered questions.

The owner returned to the negotiation with stronger due-diligence requirements, revised financial assumptions, and a more disciplined integration plan. Ultimately, the company moved forward, but under different terms and with safeguards that had not been part of the original proposal.

Lesson Learned: The value of trusted peers is not that they make the decision for you. They help you ask better questions before the decision is made.

Reaching $20 million in revenue had once felt like the destination.

When the company finally crossed that threshold, the owner discovered that growth had created an entirely new set of challenges.

The systems that worked at $8 million no longer provided enough visibility. Decisions that once happened informally now required clearer processes. Managers needed greater authority, but responsibilities were not always well defined. Revenue was growing, yet the owner remained involved in too many daily decisions.

The company had become larger, but it had not yet become fully scalable.

Through Staffing CEOs, the owner began comparing experiences with leaders who had already moved through similar stages of growth. The discussions focused not only on increasing sales, but also on building the infrastructure necessary to support a larger organization.

Members shared lessons related to branch accountability, financial reporting, leadership structure, recruiting metrics, technology, incentive plans, and the transition from owner-led decisions to management-led execution.

One insight became especially important: the next stage of growth would not come from the owner working harder. It would come from building a company that could perform without every decision flowing through the owner.

Over time, the company clarified leadership roles, improved performance reporting, strengthened its management team, and established more consistent operating practices across locations.

Growth continued, but with greater discipline and less dependency on a single leader.

Lesson Learned: Scaling is not simply doing more of what made the company successful. It requires new systems, stronger leaders, and the willingness to lead differently.
